I must admit when I first saw the Ad I wasn’t offended. I’m so totally desensitised to all types and grades of Hinduphobic content because we have always been overfed with far more vicious forms of it by Bollywood, constantly since the 70s. But I definitely did not find the Ad in good taste. It was cringy and stupid. The social media reaction to it pleasantly surprised me. Now if only we had been more humane towards ourselves 3-4 generations ago, atleast we would have by now had a quality ecosystem where merit had most weightage, a society with finer tastes in art, an entertainment industry that would not have been Pakistan’s soft power, and a population of educated elite with less contempt for the rest of the country and its indigenous peoples, a working class less depressed and anxious and a truly unified nation that could defend itself from economic, digital and cultural colonization post our physical independence.
I doubt the level of leniency of the family
